On 20th of January we celebrated the International Day of Acceptance. It was established to spread more social acceptance towards people with disabilities. In other words, with or without disability, everybody has interests, talents, opinions and a voice that wants to be heard. And the potential to make a difference in the world. Like Annie Hopkins, the woman with whom the movement began, showed us.
We wanted to join. So, we created stickers and put them all over the towns of Brtonigla and Umag. In that way, we hope, we have raised more awareness on this day. The stickers have the “Wheelchair Heart” on them, which was created by Annie and is now symbol of the movement.
“Tell the world that you are accepting of people with disabilities. As our parents, siblings, relatives, spouses, children, lovers, coworkers, teachers, personal assistants, friends, and anyone else – you also have a role in our culture and life. You can start change by demonstrating acceptance and showing the world that you embrace people of all abilities.
Start the conversation of acceptance today!”For more information visit http://www.dayofacceptance.com
