Set in the thriving Istrian village named Verteneglio, this project aimed to enhance rural development as for fostering eco-tourism, sustainable growth and European Integration within a peculiar minority environment. In fact, Verteneglio is not only the “most Italian” village in Istria, as the Italian minority represents the majority, but also land of the four soil -black, grey, white and red- which give the products distinctive features. As a consequence, the service gave the volunteer the possibility to be embedded in a multicultural environment and to merge with the local community. This was made possible by the creation of international evenings to promote multiculturalism and the active participation in rural development activities in Verteneglio and Groznjan, such as advertising youth mobility projects and holding meetings about the exchange of personal knowledge and national custom in agriculture.
