The LDA volunteers attended the mid-term training in Split from 21.02.2017 to 24.02.2017. This occasion represented their last official opportunity to come together, network and share the progress achieved and experience gained during the EVS. Within 4 days of activities, the volunteers harnessed the chance to find synergic solutions by tackling common issues encountered during the voluntary experience. The first day was dedicated to share and present the meaningfulness of the EVS as personal and professional development path through roundtable and power point presentations. Day 2 aimed to introspectively reflect through mutually sharing main achievements and issues encountered as volunteers in respective local communities. Day 3 was dedicated to the creation and attendance of ad hoc forums where participants altogether tried to find solutions to implement personal projects, create fruitful partnerships and to tackle common issues. Overall, the training succeeded in its biggest goal which was to make all participants aware that although might it be difficult to witness the impact of volunteering on local communities, “they should consider themselves heroes as they bravely undertook a journey in the unknown and fought for a greater good without having clearly recognised any reward”.
