The Local Democracy Agency of Verteneglio

Because of the particular ethnic structure of Verteneglio, its LDA was founded with the main aim of becoming an important instrument to preserve multiculturalityand cohabitation of all different ethnic groups historically living on these lands, and at the same time, as a way to reinforce either the local democracy and the institutions of the local autonomies. The LDA Verteneglio (Istrian Region) is one of three LDAs in Croatia, and one out of thirteen situated in the south-east Europe. The idea of founding the LDA in Verteneglio for the Istrian Region took place in 1994, even thou its Establishment Act was enabled only two years later, on 5. May 1996. The pact which ratifies the institution of the LDA Verteneglio, was signed, not only by the Congress Representative  of Local and Regional powers of the Council of Europe, but also by the Municipality of Verteneglio, the Istrian Region, the partner-cities and several NGOs.
Main aim: to support the consolidation of local democracy and the role of the civil society within the Istrian Region together with the ALDA (Association of all Local Democracy Agencies) in the south-east Europe.

Mandate: since its very beginning the LDA Verteneglio develops, realizes and is involved in the following projects:
